Hi everyone, this is a beautiful Tunisian crochet sweater. It’s lightweight and very cozy which you can wear on winter, fall, spring, even on summer nights. It’s also very easy to make it. Written tutorial and video tutorial are below. Hope you like it.

Materials:

Yarns needed approximately:

7, (7, 8, 8, 10, 11), skeins / 1260 (1260, 1440, 1440, 1800, 1980), yards I love this cotton yarn https://amzn.to/4cXqpbB

Darning needle

Scissors

Gauge:

18 sts and 15 rows = 4″ [10 cm] in
honeycomb stitch, 5 mm Tunisian crochet hook.

Bust measurement for this sweater (size small) : 36 in. (91 cm)

There is 3 inches (7 cm) positive ease in this sweater.

Bust measurements for different sizes:

M: 38 in. (99 cm)

L: 42 in. (109 cm)

XL: 46 in. (119 cm)

XXL: 51 in. ( about 130 cm)

3XL: 55 in. (140 cm)

S (M, L, XL, XXL, 3XL)

NOTE: The measurements are done between the different sizes of bust measurements (shown above) and also the gauge. I suggest using your sweater as a template, or carefully measure your own body. Make sure to check the size early and often while you are crocheting.

Written Tutorial:

Row 1: using 4 mm crochet hook, ch 10, starting from the second ch, 1 sc to each ch. 9 sc. Ch 1 and turn your work.

Row 2: 1 scblo to next 8 sts. 1 sc to last st. 9 sts. Ch 1 and turn work.

For size Small

Rows 2-156: 1 scblo to next 8 sts. 1 sc to last st. 9 sts.

For Medium:

Rows 2- 166: 1 scblo to next 8 sts. 1 sc to last st. 9 sts.

For Large:

Rows 2- 174: 1 scblo to next 8 sts. 1 sc to last st. 9 sts.

For XL:

Rows 2- 202: 1 scblo to next 8 sts. 1 sc to last st. 9 sts.

For XXL:

Rows 2- 226: 1 scblo to next 8 sts. 1 sc to last st. 9 sts.

For 3XL:

Rows 2- 244: 1 scblo to next 8 sts. 1 sc to last st. 9 sts.

Connect 2 ends to make a circle.

Body part(round 1): 1 sl st to each st. Sl st to the last st to close the round. 156 sts

Switching to 5 mm interchangeable or long Tunisian hook.

Round 2: Insert the hook into the back loops of sl st, yo and pull up a loop and continue pulling a loop from the each sl st until the end.

You have 156 (166, 174, 202, 226, 244) sts on hook, connect the yarn to end for the return pass.

Return pass: Yo and pull through 2 loops until the beginning st.

Round 3: *1 tss to next st, 1 tps to next st. Repeat from * until the end. Follow by return pass.

Round 4: *1 tps to next st, 1 tss to next st. Repeat from * until the end. Follow by return pass.

Repeat rows 3 and 4 follow by return pass until the body part measures 35 inches (89 cm)

Separate for front and back panel. Continue on back panel with the established pattern for 20-22 inches (50-55 cm)

Front panel:

Row 1: Pick up 78 sts with honeycomb Tunisian st pattern, follow by return pass. Whe. you do a return pass, you will yo and pull through first loop first and 2 loops at a time after that.

Repeat row 1 until it measures 5 inches (12 cm)

5 inches (12 cm) from armhole to beginning of neckline shaping.

Neckline opening:

Leave 14 sts in the middle for small/medium sizes.

Leave 16 sts in the middle for large/x-large sizes.

Leave 18 sts in the middle for XXL/3XL sizes.

Row 1 (neckline shaping-left): *1 tss to next st, 1 tps to next st. Rep. from * until the first marker on the right.

Return pass: yo and pull through 2 loops at the beginning instead of 1 loop (this will decrease for the neckline).

Cont. with the return pass, yo and pull through 2 loops at a time until the end.

Row 2: *1 tps to next st, 1 tss to next st. Rep. from * until the marker.

Follow by return pass: yo and pull through 2 loops at a time (cont. to decrease for the neckline)

Note: Every time in Tunisian crochet, if you go to one direction (not in the round), in the return pass, when you yo and pull through 2 loops at the beginning, you are decreasing one loop at the beginning and this will be the neckline decrease.

Continue with the established Tunisian honeycomb st pattern until the marker follow by return pass- yo and pull through 2 loops at a time (decreasing for the neckline). Continue making decreases like this for total of 8 rows for small/ medium sizes, decrease total of 10 rows for large/x-large sizes, and decrease total of 12 rows for 2XL/3XL.

Cont. with the established pattern 7 more rows without making any decreases for the neckline.

Last round, sl st to each front loop and connect/ join the shoulder pieces using 4 mm crochet hook.

Row 1 (neckline shaping-right):

Attach the yarn to the st after the second stitch marker on the left, 1 tss to next st, 1 tps to next st (sl st to the first st- decreasing for the neckline) and cont. with the established Tunisian honeycomb st pattern. *1 tss to next st, 1 tps to next st. Rep. from * until the end follow by return pass- yo and pull through 1 loop first and 2 loops at a time until the end. Rep. this row total of 8 rows.

After done with the neckline decreases, cont. with the established pattern 7 more rows without making any decreases for the neckline and sl st to each front loop at the last round and connect/ join the shoulder pieces using 4 mm crochet hook.

Armhole:

Attach the yarn, using 5 mm crochet hook, sl st to each st, around the armhole. Sl st to close the round and switch to the 5 mm Tunisian hook.

Pick up loops, inserting the hook into the back loop of sl sts, yo and cont. picking up a loop from the each back loop and follow by a return pass in the round. Place a sm to beginning st. Cont. with the established pattern follow by return pass in the round until the desired sleeve length.

Making the ribbing for the sleeve:

Switch to the 5 mm crochet hook and sl st to each front loop in the round. Sl st to the last st.

Switch to the 4 mm crochet hook and ch 7. Starting from the 2nd ch, 1 sl st to each ch. 6 sl st.

Sl st to next 2 sts (back loop of sl sts)

* Turn, sl st to back loop of each st. 6 sl st. Ch 1 and turn your work. 1 sl st to each back loop, sl st to next 2 sts. Rep. from * until the end of the round and fasten off.

Neckline ribbing is done same as sleeve ribbing. *Sl st to each st (sl st 3 together at the edges) around the neckline first with 4 mm crochet hook and ch 7, sl st to each ch, sl st to next 2 sts, ch 1, sl st to each back loop, turn sl st to each back loop. Rep. From* until the end of the round and fasten off.
