Crochet Hexagon Cardigan Pattern (Free XS–5XL Pattern)
Looking for a beautiful, beginner-friendly crochet cardigan that works up into a stunning, modern piece? This crochet hexagon cardigan pattern is designed for all sizes from XS to 5XL, making it perfect for everyone.
This cardigan is made from two simple hexagons and features a gorgeous textured stitch combination with puff stitches and lace sections. It’s lightweight, stylish, and perfect for layering year-round.

🧥 About This Crochet Hexagon Cardigan

This crochet hexagon cardigan is one of my favorite designs because it combines simplicity with beautiful texture. If you’ve never made a hexagon cardigan before, don’t worry—this construction is much easier than it looks.

The entire cardigan is made from just two hexagons that are folded and joined to create the sleeves and body. This makes it a relaxing and enjoyable project, especially if you love repetitive stitch patterns with a little bit of texture.

I designed this version to be lightweight and breathable, making it perfect for layering during spring, summer evenings, or even indoors year-round. The puff stitch details add a unique touch while still keeping the pattern wearable and modern.

Another reason I love this cardigan is how easy it is to customize. You can make it longer, shorter, oversized, or fitted just by adjusting the number of rounds.

💡 Beginner Tips Before You Start

• Always place stitch markers at the corners so you don’t lose track of your shape

• Count your stitches at the end of each round for accuracy

• If your hexagon starts curling, your tension may be too tight

• Blocking your cardigan at the end will make a huge difference in how it looks

If you’re new to puff stitches, take your time and keep your loops loose so the stitch stays soft and textured.

📏 How to Customize Your Cardigan

One of the best things about this pattern is how easy it is to adjust.

• Make it longer: Add more repeats of Rounds 8–12

• Make sleeves longer: Continue adding rounds before folding

• Make it oversized: Go up one size or use a larger hook

• Make it shorter: Stop a few rounds earlier

This flexibility makes the pattern great for all body types and style preferences.
