This is a beautiful, soft, stylist vest, made with 100% cotton yarn, with 5 different colors (including the color I used for the edging). It can be wore for cool nights over a shirt or even for cold weathers can be wore over a sweater. Hope you like it. Detailed written instructions are below.

MATERIALS

Crochet hook 4 mm or smaller

4mm Tunisian Crochet Hook

https://amzn.to/3Y5UazT Pima cotton yarn from Lion Brand. It’s 100 % Pima cotton yarn, luxurious and extremely soft and also lightweight. When you crochet with this yarn, it flows very easily and comfortably. I very much recommend this yarn.

https://amzn.to/43Ov09X I also love Dishie yarn by Knit Picks. This yarn also would be an another cotton option for this sweater. Its very soft, and lightweight, It’s also a cotton yarn, similar to “I love this cotton” that I used to make this vest. I have used this yarn many times and loved it. This would be a great option!

Written Instructions:

Written instructions are for sizes S/M. You can also add rows or stripes to make size bigger.

GAUGE: 19 sts and 18 rows = 10 cm (4 inch) in Tunisian simple stitch.

Row 1: Ch 18. Starting from the second ch, Insert your hook into the each ch, yarn over and pull up a loop until the end. 18 loops on the hook.

Return pass: Yarn over and complete a ch st through the first loop. Yarn over and pull through two loops at a time to the rest of the loops until the end.

Row 2: Starting from the second vertical bar, 1 tss to each st until the end of the row. 18 loops on the hook.

Return pass: Complete a ch st through the first loop. And yarn over and pull through two loops at a time to the rest of the loops until the end.

Row 2-14: Continue with 1 tss to each st follow by return pass.

Continue making squares like this. Sweater is done starting with the vertical strip on the far left and working from the bottom up join and go to the right.

Change the color of yarn between the squares.

Row 1 of shaping the neckline of the left side:

Change to a new yarn color, continue with 1 tss to each st. 1 tss to last 2 sts together. You have 17 loops on the hook. Continue with return pass.

We are going to decrease 1 tss at the end of each row.

Row 2: Continue with 1 tss to each st. 1 tss to last 2 sts together. 16 loops on hook.

Row 2-14: Decrease 1 tss at the end of each row until you have 3 loops on the hook.

Last 3 loops on hook, yarn over and pull through two loops at a time.

Sl st to last 2 loops. Ch 1 fasten off.

When we join two strips side by side, we will work on the back loop and the loop behind the back loop together.

Adding the strips to right: Starting from the second vertical bar, 1 tss to each st until the end. Insert the hook into the same st that the yarn was connected. 19 loops on the hook. Return pass: Yarn over and pull through 2 loops at a time until the end.

In the return pass, there is no complete ch st to the first st when joining two strips together.

Row 2: Continue with 1 tss to each st until the end. Insert the hook into the end of second row of first strip to join, 19 loops on hook.

Return pass: Yarn over and pull through 2 loops at a time until the end.

Continue with 1 tss to each st until the end, connect to the next row in previous strip, join and continue connecting each squares to the previous square.

Working on the under arm piece:

After done with row 14, 1 tss to next 5 sts. 6 loops on hook.

Return pass; Yarn over and pull through 2 loops at a time.

Next row: 1 tss to next 4 sts. 5 loops on hook. Yarn over and pull through 2 loops at a time.

Continue decreasing until one loop left on hook. Ch 1 and fasten off.

Add the yarn. Cast off 6 sts in the middle.

Continue with 1 tss to last 5 sts, sl st to join to the previous strip.

Return pass: Yarn over and pull through 2 loops at a time.

Next row: 1 tss to next 3 tss, 1 tss to last 2 tss together,  join, sl st.

Return pass: Yarn over and pull through 2 loops at a time.

Continue decreasing until one loop left on hook, sl st to previous strip to connect, ch 1 and fasten off.

Row 1 of shaping the neckline of the right side:

Join the yarn.

Starting from the 3rd vertical bar, 1 tss to each st until the end.

18 loops on hook including the joining loop.

Return pass: Yarn over and pull through 2 loops at a time until the beginning of the row.

Row 2: Starting from the 3rd vertical bar, 1 tss to each st until the end. 17 loops on hook.

Return pass: Yarn over and pull through 2 loops at a time.

Continue making decreases like this until 3 loops on hook. 3 loops on the hook, yarn over and pull through 2 loops at a time. Ch 1 fasten off.

Working on the borders:

When we work on the borders, we’ll work all together, neckline, 2 front pieces, bottom hem.

Using 4 mm or smaller size crochet hook, 1 sc to each st all around the edge.

Row 2 of edging: 1 rsc to each st.

Edging/ribbing of the shoulders is the same.

Row 1: 1 sc to each st all around the edge.

Row 2: 1 rsc to each st.

Fasten off and weave the ends.
