How to knit a pumpkin for fall decor

Hello everyone,

This pumpkin is knit in one piece and is a fun and easy project. It uses less than a skein of yarn and it took me less than 2 hours to make. For the stem I used a twig from my garden, making this piece mixed media. One can also choose to knit their own stem, using a colorful yarn of one’s own choice. Materials:

Tapestry needle
Scissors
Small wood or bamboo branch for the stem, (or a thick wire wrapped in your choice of color yarn).
* Use left over yarns and failed projects for the filling.

Any category 4/medium worsted weight yarn would work for this project but some of my favorite yarns below that would be great option to make this pumpkin.

Final measurements:

About 3 inches (7.5 cm) tall
Circumference 16 inches (40.5 cm)

Written instructions:

Row 1: Cast on 58 stitches

Row 2: Slip the first stitch, *Knit next 4 stitches, purl next 4 stitches. Repeat from * until the end of the row. Purl last 5 stitches.

Repeat row 2 until the piece measures 6 inches (15 cm) and bind off.
