Crochet Tulip Shaped Handbag

Hello everyone,

This crochet handbag is Tulip shaped and very pretty. I called this handbag Tulip because it actually has Tulip shape also really good looking. Because it’s made with 100% chunky wool yarn, it’s very sturdy and you don’t really need lining inside the bag but if you do lining, it will be more sturdy and nice.

Materials:

Scissors

Yarn needle to weave the ends.

Abbreviations:

Mc: Magic circle

Ch: Chain

Sl st: Slip stitch

St (s): Stitch (es)

Sc: Single crochet

Sm: Stitch marker

Spk-sc: Spike single crochet

Sc2tog: Single crochet 2 together

Sc3tog: Single crochet 3 together

Spk-sc3tog: Spike single crochet 3 together

Written Tutorial:

Round 1: Make a mc, 1 sc inside the mc, (Ch 2, 1 sc inside the mc) x3. Tighten the mc ch 2 sl st to close the round with color b.

Round 2: Ch 1, 1 sc to previous ch 2 space. 1 spk-sc to next st (insert the hook into the mc). 1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc inside the mc)

(1 spk-sc to next st. 1 sc ch 2, 1 sc into the ch 2 space) x4. At the end of the round, 1 sc to last space ch 2 and sl st to close the round with color a.

Round 3: Ch 1, 1 sc to previous space. 1 sc to next 3 sts. 1 sc, ch2, 1 sc to next ch 2 space.

*1 sc to next 3 sts. 1 sc ch 2, 1 sc into the ch 2 space. Repeat from * until the end of the round. At the end of the round, 1 sc to last space ch 2 and sl st to close the round with color b.

Round 4: Ch 1, 1 sc to previous ch 2 space. 1 spk-sc to next 5 sts. 1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc into the ch 2 space

*1 spk-sc to next 5 sts. 1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc into the ch 2 space. Repeat from * until the end of the round. At the end, 1 single crochet to last space chain 2 and slip stitch to close the round with color a and chain 1.

Rounds 5-10: Repeat rounds 3 and 4 until the piece measures 7.5 inches (19 cm)

Round 11 (Making decreases in the middle of each side)

Place a stitch marker in the middle of each side (4 sides). You should have 15 stitches on each side. Place a stitch marker to the 8th stitch which is the middle stitch.

In round 11, we are going start making decreases in the middle, We will decrease 3 stitches (the stitch before the marker, the marked stitch, and the stitch after the marker)

Round 11: 1 sc to the previous space. 1 sc to next 6 sts. 1 sc3tog to next 3 sts. 1 sc to next 6 sts. 1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc into the ch 2 space

*1 sc to next 6 sts. 1 sc3tog to next 3 sts. 1 sc to next 6 sts. 1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc into the ch 2 space. Repeat from * until the end of the round. At the end of the round, 1 sc to last space ch 2 and sl st to close the round with color b.

Round 12: *1 spk-sc to next 6 sts. 1 spk-sc3tog to next 3 sts. 1 spk-sc to next 6 sts.. 1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc into the ch 2 spaceRepeat from * until the end of the round. At the end, 1 single crochet to last space chain 2 and slip stitch to close the round with color a and chain 1.

Rounds 13-18: Repeat rounds 11 and 12

Round 19: Continue with color b. Ch 1 and 1 sct to the previous st.

*1 sc to next 6 sts. 1 sc 3 together to next 3 sts. 1 sc to next 6 sts. 1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc to the space. Repeat from * until the end of the round.

Round 20: *1 waistcoat st to next 6 sts. 1 waistcoat st 3 together to next 3 sts. 1 waistcoat st to next 6 sts. 1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc to ch 2 space. Repeat from * until the end of the round.

Round 21-22: Repeat round 20.

Round 23: Sl st to close the round with color a, ch 1.

Making the handle: 1 single crochet to the previous row and chain 25. 1 sc to the next chain 2 space to close the handle piece.

1 waistcoat st to next 6 sts. 1 waistcoat st 3 together to next 3 sts. 1 waistcoat st to next 6 sts. Making the second handle, chain 25. Connect the handle to next chain 2 space. 1 waistcoat st to next 6 sts.1 waistcoat st 3 together to next 3 sts.1 waistcoat st to next 6 sts.Slip stitch to close the round,

Round 24: Ch 1, 1 sc2tog to the same st and the next ch st. 1 sc to next 23 ch sts (handle). 1 sc 2 tog to last ch st and next st. 1 waistcoat st to next 5 sts.1 waistcoat st 3 tog to next 3 sts.1 waistcoat sts to next 5 sts. 1 sic2tog to the same st and the next ch st. 1 sc to next 23 ch sts (handle). 1 sc2 tog to last ch st and next st. 1 waistcoat st to next 5 sts.1 waistcoat st 3 tog to next 3 sts.1 waistcoat sts to next 5 sts. Sl st to close the round and fasten off. Weave the ends.
