Crochet Peony Flowers

Hello everyone,

I have created these beautiful peony flowers. They are very easy and quick project which can be Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day gift, used as home decorations. They are very beautiful to look at.

Materials:

Abbreviations:

Ch: Chain

Mc: Magic circle

Sm: Stitch marker

Sc: Single crochet

Scblo: Single crochet back loop only.

Sc2tog: Single crochet 2 together

Hdc: Half double crochet

Dc: Double crochet

Sl st: Slip stitch

St (s):Stitch (es)

Tss: Tunisian simple stitch

Written instructions:

Make a mc and ch 1

Round 1: 8 sc into the mc.

Slip stitch to front loop of the first stitch (beginning round). Place a sm to back loop of first stitch (beginning of the round)

Ch 6, sl st to same st and sl st to next front loop stitch.

Round 2: Sl st to next front loop stitch, chain 6, sl st to same st. Repeat from until the end of the round. At the end, sl st to the back loop of beginning stitch (the one with the marker) 2 sc to same st. Place a sm

Round 3: 2 sc to each back loop until the end of the round. 16 sc. At the end, sl st to front loop of beginning st.

Round 4: Ch 7, sl st to same front loop and sl st to next front loop, Repeat from until the end of the round. Sl st to back loop of beginning stitch.

Round 5: 1 sc to next back loop, 2 sc to next back loop. Repeat from * until the end of the round. 24 sc

Sl st to next stitch (both loops) to close the round, ch 1 and fasten off.

Attach color b to any back loop stitch and ch 1

Round 6: 1 scblo to each stitch around. 24 sc

Rounds 6-8: 1 scblo to each stitch around. 24 sc

Slip stitch to close the round and chain 1.

Round 9: * 1 sc to next 2 sts, 1 sc2tog to next 2 sts. Repeat from * until the end of the round. 18 single crochet

Round 10: 1 sc to each st around. 18 sc.

Round 11: * 1 sc to next st, 1 sc2tog to next 2 sts. Repeat from * until the end of the round. 12 sc.

Round 12: * 1 sc2tog to next 2 sts. Repeat from * until the end of the round. 6 sc.

This is the part, you do the filling (I used waste yarn on my tutorial but you can use anything you like)

Round 1 of making petals:

Attach color c to any front loop stitch in color a

Ch 6, pull up a loop from each chain, starting from the second chain. 6 loops on hook, pull up one more loop from the same stitch (from the base) 7 loops on hook. Return pass- Yarn over and pull through 2 loops at a time until one loop on hook.

1 Tss to each vertical bar, starting from 2nd vertical bar. 6 loops on hook, pull up one more loop from the same stitch (from the base) 7 loops on hook and finish with a return pass.

1 Tss to each vertical bar, starting from 2nd vertical bar. 6 loops on hook, pull up one more loop from the next stitch at the base. 7 loops on hook and finish with a return pass.

1 Tss to each vertical bar, starting from 2nd vertical bar. 6 loops on hook, pull up one more loop from the same stitch at the base. 7 loops on hook and finish with a return pass.

1 Tss to each vertical bar, starting from 2nd vertical bar. 6 loops on hook, pull up one more loop from the next stitch at the base. 7 loops on hook and finish with a return pass.

1 Tss to each vertical bar, starting from 2nd vertical bar. 6 loops on hook, pull up one more loop from the next stitch at the base. 7 loops on hook and finish with a return pass.

Sl st to each vertical bar, starting from the 2nd vertical bar.

Sl st to same stitch at the base.

Sl st to next stitch at the base and chain 6 and make another petal. Repeat these steps making petals, total of 6 petals.

After making the last petal, sc to first stitch, continue working around the petals:

(skip 1 stitch, sc to next st) x2, ch 3 1 sc to same stitch.

(Skip 1 , sc to next st, ch 3, sc to same st) x3 more times.

(Skip 1, sc to next st) x2

Sl st to the first st and continue crocheting around the petals, using these steps.

After going around all the petals, sl st to the base at the end, ch 1 and fasten off.

Round 2 of making petals:

Attach the yarn to the front loop of color b (attach the yarn to the loop which will come across to the middle of first petal)

Chain 8, repeat the same steps with round 1 of making petals except the chain counts will be 8 instead of 6. Continue making 6 petals in this round and after done making petals, continue going around the petals same as petals in round 1.

Round 3 of making petals:

Chain 10, repeat the same steps with round 1 of making petals except the chain counts will be 10 instead of 6. Continue making 6 petals in this round and after done making petals, continue going around the petals same as petals in round 1.

Making the leaf:

Using color b, ch 29,

Sl st to the second st from hook, pull through the wire inside the sl st.

Going around the wire, 1sc to next 2 sts, 1 hdc to next 3 sts, 1 dc to next 16 sts, 1 hdc to next 3 sts, 1sc to next 2 sts, sl st to the last st, continue to other side with 1sc to next 2 sts, 1 hdc to next 3 sts, 1 dc to next 16 sts, 1 hdc to next 3 sts, 1sc to next 2 sts, sl st to the last st and the beginning st. Ch 1 and fasten off. Make 3 leafs like this and attach 3 leafs from bottom sewing them together.

Connect all the pieces together. I used bamboo for the stem.
