Hello everyone,
This crochet bag is made in the round, using bottom base. It’s very easy and stylish bag. If you know the basics of crochet, you can make this. You can use as a handbag or shoulder bag, and you can also do the lining if you like.
I used PU leather base making this bag. It turned out really nice and sturdy.
Detailed written and video tutorials are below.
Hope you like this!

Forming the bag:
Bag is started from the bottom and worked going up in the round. We start to treat the holes of the base as the stitches of your foundation chain. You simply make slip stitches into the each hole, and next round, we do some increases at the corners to avoid bag being tight at the bottom and loosens going up. After that you basically go in round, crocheting some mesh stitches. At the end, crochet chain strings and handwoven these chain strings into the meshes alternating under and over. Finishing the bag with straps.
Materials:
Yarn: color blush https://amzn.to/4sf02oG, color Antique gold https://amzn.to/4uK3w4i, for the cream color I used a different yarn which is discontinued, but this is the similar one you can use https://amzn.to/4uqgOCV (Total of 1 skein of yarn is used for each color)
Crochet hook, 3.5 mm https://amzn.to/471QPHJ
Bag bottom base (about 12 cm wide): https://amzn.to/4cNzWnY
You also need scissors, yarn needle, and safety pin.

Written instructions:
Round 1: Using color A, attach the yarn to the any hole on the side, sl st to each hole in the round. 60 sl st.
Round 2: Round 2: 2 sc to next 4 sts/ holes. 3 sc to next 3 sts (holes). 2 sc to next 16 sts. 3 sc to next 3 sts, 2 sc to next 8 sts, 3 sc to next 3 sts. 2 sc to next 16 sts. 2 sc to the last 4 sts You should have total of 132 sts in this round.
Round 3: 1 scblo only to each st around. 132 sts. At the end of the round, sl st to close the round and chain 4.
Round 4: Skip one st, 1 dc to the next st. *Ch 1, skip one st, 1 dc to the next st. Repeat from * in the round. At the end, ch 1 and sl st to close the round and ch 4.
Skip the next space and make 1 dc to the next dc st.
Round 5: *Ch 1, skip the next space, 1 dc to next dc st. Repeat from * in the round. At the end of round 5, we will be switching to color b. At the end, sl st with color b to close the round and ch 4.
Round 6: Using color b, *Ch 1, skip the next space, 1 dc to next dc st. Repeat from * in the round.
Continue repeating round 5 and switching 3 colors as shown. You will have (color a for 2 rounds, color b for 1 round, color c for 4 rounds, and back to color b for 1 time- repeat this color changes sequence total of 2 times)
Last round: 1 rsc to next space, 1 rsc to next st in the round. 132 rsc. At the end of the round, sl st to close the round and fasten off.
Make string of chains (color b- the cream color- 50 chains, color a- the antique gold- 85 chains, color c- the color blush- 175 chains)
Using safety pin, thread the chains alternately under and over the meshes.
When you come to top, attach the chain to the top before starting the next row.
Continue going down to next row, to the next set of meshes but this time weave the chains through the meshes, alternating under and over in reverse order.
Now, we will continue with color b, cream color to the next set of meshes, weave the chains through the meshes, alternating under and over in reverse order of the previous row.
Note: When you’re threading the chains from meshes, make sure that they are not twisted.
Next color is color c- the blush color. Weave the chains through the meshes using color c, alternating under and over in reverse order of the previous row.
Thread the chains following the color template we used while we crochet the meshes. (color a for 2 rounds, color b for 1 round, color c for 4 rounds, and back to color b for 1 round- repeat this color changes sequence)
Making the handle: Make a slip knot and chain 2. Make a single crochet to the second chain from hook.
Make a single crochet to the loop on the side and continue making single crochet to the loop on the side until the desired length. In this sample, the handle is 32 inches (81 cm) long.
Make 2 handle pieces like this and attach to the bag with a knot.
