This crochet bag is both beautiful and strong. Bag is made with recycled cotton macrame cord 3mm, and the handle is made with medium weight cotton yarn. It took less than a day to make it. Hope you like it. Written instructions are below.

Notes:

This bag is made from starting with an oval shape base at the bottom of the bag and then working your way up in a spiral. This pattern is created with single crochet and followed by one chain. The written detailed instructions are below. I used 3 different colors of macrame cord. There are so many colors available by many different companies, so it’s both easy and fun to get creative with the coloring! Or you can use only one color, whichever you like, whichever you prefer. For the handles, for this bag I chose to have long handles, but this feature also has many options. Who is the bag intended for? A tall person or a short person? A child? The size of the person, as well as what they will use the bag for, these are factors you should think about. And shorter handles turn a bag into a handbag. You can also add a fabric liner to the inside of the bag, as this makes it easier to reach inside and find different items. A liner also lessens the possibility of losing any very small item placed inside the bag, when the bag ages and small openings increase in size. But you do not need a liner, this is really a personal choice.

Another option: Instead of using macrame cord, you can use a medium weight cotton yarn with 2-3 strands together. This also makes for a durable bag.

YARN SUBSTITUTIONS:

https://amzn.to/3Nl388r Lily Sugar’n Cream Cotton Yarn is a great option for this project. I have used this yarn for so many projects, especially for making baskets and bags. The reason this yarn is excellent for bags is because it’s a little bit less soft and less flexible than other cotton yarns, and this quality both gives and sustains a nice shape to the bags or baskets. I very much recommend this yarn for baskets, bags, dishtowels and toys.

https://amzn.to/3J7tZ5A. Ravenox Macrame Cord which is also great option. I have also used this cord, it’s made from strong upcycled cotton fibers. This macrame cord is also soft and twisted, great for making a sturdy, durable bag.

https://amzn.to/3qHnMGU I also love Lion Brand bamboo yarn. Its also less soft, but it’s easy to crochet or knit. I have also used this yarn so many times for projects like this. This yarn is also great for making sweaters, summer tops, cardigans. One of the reasons that I love using this yarn is because Bamboo yarn is a sustainable, renewable resource and I love making projects with this yarn and also it’s reasonably priced.
